Hi Thomas,

IRDP stands for ICMP Route Discovery protocol. It one of the ways to provide
high availability / Hot standby gateway solution. Assuming there are two
routers in a LAN , routers would be periodicaly advertising to the hosts
about their availability.

It is similar to HSRP , yet defined by RFC 1256 (good bed time reading) .
