If you do a show IP ospf database from router R3 and you see only the entry
for 172.16.1.0 under "show ip ospf data ext" then you have done the
redistribution correctly and properly prevented S0 from being redistributed.

I personally used a route-map under the redistribute connected statement and
allowed only the 172.16.1.0 from being allowed out.
