    No.

   Configuration for Router SLC
! Configure pots dial peer 1
   dial-peer voice 1 pots
   destination-pattern 9...........
   port 1/0/0

! Configure voip dial peer 2
   dial-peer voice 2 voip
   destination-pattern +14085554000
   session target ipv4:172.16.1.123

   ! Configure serial interface
   interface serial 0/0
   ip address 172.16.65.182
   no shutdown
   !
   Configuration for Router SJ
! Configure pots dial peer 1
   dial-peer voice 1 pots
   destination-pattern +14085554000
   port 1/0/0

! Configure voip dial peer 2
   dial-peer voice 2 voip
   destination-pattern 9...........
   session target ipv4:172.16.65.182

   ! Configure the serial interface
   interface serial 0/0
   clock rate 2000000
   ip address 172.16.1.123
   no shutdown

If the device plugged into router SJ's port 1/0/0 dials any number
which matches 9........... (ie 9876543212) the call will be routed
out SJ's voip peer to 172.16.65.182. When SLC receives that call, it
will route the 9........... to it's POTS peer on port 1/0/0.

Similarly if the device plugged into router SLC's port 1/0/0
dials +14085554000 the call will be routed out SLC's voip peer to
172.16.1.123. When SJ receives that call, it will route the
+14085554000 to it's POTS peer on port 1/0/0.

   correct?

What I think is wrong is the second destination pattern under the pots
config. So I think this is wrong:

   Configuration for Router SLC
! Configure pots dial peer 1
   dial-peer voice 1 pots
   destination-pattern 9...........
   port 1/0/0

   And this is right:

   Configuration for Router SLC
! Configure pots dial peer 1
   dial-peer voice 1 pots
   destination-pattern +14085554000
   port 1/0/0

Like they had a typo or something.

I'm studying voice and seems to me that the "dial-peer voice 1 pots"
basically tells the router that the phone number of the connected
device on port 1/0/0 has a phone number of whatever is specified by
   the destination-pattern....
