There are 2 Easy-8's and one Motel 6 a few miles south of the lab.
$60-70$/night. You can get a compact car from Enterprise for $25. Include a
couple of Denny's meals (next to the Hotel 6), and you're in Cali for
$125/day. Make reservations!

There's Hilton Garden INN in Milpitas on McCarthy Ranch. not a walkin
distance though..weekend rates are like $79 and it's pretty nice.
