on a router acting as a frame relay switch, traffic shaping will not
work well. I.e. traffic shaping is designed from a layer 3 perspective
and operation. I.e. taking packets that arrive on an interface,
filtering them according to the QoS policies, and sending them out the
interface. a routers acting as frame relay switches use the
frame-relay route command to map traffic in one interface to another
based on the PVC DLCI's. pure layer two stuff.
At least, that's my read on it.

Subject: Frame Relay Traffic Shaping
Hi,
When I read the Document CD, I find the following:
http://127.0.0.1:8080/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios120/12cgcr/wan_c/w
cfrelay.htm#xtocid2427328
Frame Relay traffic shaping is not effective for Layer 2 PVC switching
using the frame-relay route command.
Can any give me some explain?
Thanks a lot.
