I think this is only the mainboard serial number only ie. not the router serial
number. Cisco routers normally have a JABXXXXXX number on a label fixed to the
rear of the box. There is no way of getting this number unless you manually ad
d
a description or snmp location info to your config incl the sticker serial at
installation time. This can be a nightmare for change control though. Each
time you have a field replacement you will need to update the config to reflect
the new SN.

Dependz on the router i guess. on 3660 you can do sh c3600 and it'll give
you the serial number
