I am getting somewhat confused on metrics and route redistribution. When I
redistribute from one IGP an another I must define the metrics.
Example, From the reference point of the router with IGRP on S0 and OSPF on
S1. I want to redistribute IGRP into OSPF, so I define the metrics within
the OSPF configuration. Are these metrics in relation to the S0 side (what
the route has been through until the redistribution point) or the S1 side
(where the route is going to as it is redistributed)?
Also, how should I define the metrics? For an EIGRP route, for example, what
types of metrics should I use for the variables? (Bandwidth is obviuos, I
think; but what of delay and the others?) Can anyone tell me the MTUs for
different types of links or point me to a reference, as well as the other
metrics and what I should define them as? Thanks.
