Probably with minimal impact without testing too much of your patience ,
configure neighbors with inbound soft configuration..it takes a while
otherwise
..the nettable walker process doesn't scan in right away from what i see
from debug ip bgp , up , events etc..
even with ospf , sometimes redistribute connected and eigrp don't get
redistributed
right away ..had to do clear ip ospf redistribution..
Cheers,Padhu

Subject: propagating routes in bgp
Hi,
I'm working with BGP and I noticed that if I inject new routes into BGP -
say putting in a static route and network
statement that they do not get propagated to neighbors until I do a clear
ip bgp * (or the specific neighbor.)
Why is that? Does BGP not send updates when it has a new route in it's
table that it has not sent to a peer if it is eligible
to be sent to that peer? Or am I being too impatient and it takes a while
before those automatic updates occur? I've also
noticed the same when trying to do filtering or removing a route by
removing the network statement. I always have to
clear ip bgp *. I understood I only needed to do that if I was changing
attributes or metrics.
Thanks,
Julie Ann
