When I did this, I found something strange
R1(S0)-------(S0)R2(e0)--------(1/2)Cat5(1/3)--------(e0)R3
R2 e0 has command : ip igmp join-group 224.5.5.5
R1(S0), R2(S0), S2(e0) and s3(e0) have command ip pim sparse-mode
R1 and R3 has static RP point to R2'loopback interface which is reachable
from R1 and R3
I don't have problem ping the 224.5.5.5 from R1, and R3
but after I put command ip cgmp on R2(e0) and R3(e0), put command ip cgmp
enable on Cat 5
I am not able to ping the 224.5.5.5 from R1 and R3
Removing CGMP related command on R2, R3 and Cat 5, the address 224.5.5.5 is
reachable from R1 and R3.
Can anyone help me to explain this?
Thanks

Not sure I understand fully what you mean, but the Catalyst uses CGMP to see
which devices need multicast traffic.

Subject: Trying simple LAB multicasting
I just begin in multicasting...
1) The lab say configure multicast R1,R2....
No problem ip multicast-routing
and on the interface ip pim dense-mode
2) Rx should explicity join the group 229.2.2.2
no problem ip igmp join-group 229.2.2.2
3)Configure the catalyst to be able to see R1 and R2 are multicast router
but no R3
and configure catalyst to send traffic to 229.2.2.2
Some useful link or explain will be welcome...
