I would place 12.0.9 code on two of my routers to enable virtual-tokenring
interfaces.

Since you don't have isdn I would recommend using modems to simulate as much as
possible. Another option would be asynchronous routing from aux 2 aux ports.
This will give you experience with ppp and authentication. You can also
accomplish backup delay, interface, and using thresholds. Hope this helps, I've
had to be quite creative in my lab also.
