While I have been working on some scenarios, I noticed some issues with ISDN b
ackup with backup interface.
In a scenario, two routers are connected through both Frame relay and ISDN. On
the serial interface of one of the two routers that connect to the other route
r through Frame relay, I configured "backup interface dialer 0". I configured
different ip network on the serial interface and dialer 0 interface. It works
as expected. When the frame relay connection is down, the ISDN line is dialed
after the specified delay. When frame relay is up, ISDN line is disconnected a
utomatically.
The problem is that, when the frame relay line is up, the dialer 0 interface is
not ping-able from any where. As we know that the rule in the CCIE lab is (may
be) "able to ping from any where to any where". I wonder if the above problem
is a violation of that rule. I know that I might be able to use ip unnumbered
on the dialer 0 interface. But what if I am asked to configured a different i
p network on the dialer 0 interface from the ip network on the serial interface
. Does that mean I can not use "backup interface" in this scenario?
Any info will be appreciated.
