I added the "ppp auth chap" on the bri interface of R4. It did not change
the situation.

The way r3 and r4 are configured is that they'll call each other. I'm
wondering if both routers are calling each other the same time which
causes
"no channel available"? You may want to change the config such that
only
one side can initiate the call. Or try r3 calling r4's second B channel.
