They are totally different volumes. II doesn't have any updates to the
material in Volume I and actually assumes at least a partial knowledge of
the material from Vol. I (the interior routing protocols). It's about the
same size as Vol. I, but covers exterior routing protocols and some other
things like NAT, multicast, & IPv6. I think you want Vol. I for sure -- a
lot of people in this group use this as a resource for the interior routing
protocols. Vol. I has a huge section on OSPF, for example. Like I said, I
have both the Doyle Vol. II and the Halabi as references for BGP.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks a lot for your suggestions.

One more thing to check..IS volume II of DOyle is superset of Volume I??

means If I cover volume II..will it cover volume I as well??OR I need to
cover
that as well for some other topics??

Many thanks.

Faisal.

The Doyle II is not an update to the version I. I think it's a really good
book - it covers EGP, BGP, NAT, multicast, IPV6 and has pretty pictures.
The BGP section was pretty good, I thought, but not as detailed as the
Halabi book, which covers BGP only.
