Hello group,
Is there a way to cross-connect 2 token ring routers back-to-back like an
ethernet crossover cable? I want to save space on my rack by not having to
mount a MAU. If I can connect 2 token ring routers back to back with a
custom-made cable, that would save me from having to use a MAU.
Does anybody have the wiring diagram for converting an 8-port MAU to 2x
4-port MAUs. I openned my IBM 8228 MAU once and it does not seem to be too
complicated. What stomped me was the RI and RO ports. I did not know how
to terminate it. Has anyone tried this before. Once again, the intent is
to save rack space. If a single 8-port MAU can be converted to 2x MAU, that
would save a lot of space. Multiply that with 8 pods, that's a lot of Rack
space saved.
Joseph
