Sam,
i can sell you a Cisco EtherSwitch 2200, which is the same thing as the
Catalyst 2901, but a different color, for $800. Or I can sell you a
Catalyst 2926F for $1250.00......basically its like this:
Cat 2901/EtherSwitch 2200 = Sup1, 12 10/100 ports
Cat 2926 = sup2, 24 10/100 ports
I have been in your position, and I used a 2901 since its one of the more
affordable switches to learn this stuff on.
I have made a niche out of equipment that is hard to afford for the CCIE
lab: ATM, Voice, token switching, Cat5k. These are things I keep in
inventory and try to give to those on this list pretty cheap.
2901/2902/2926/etherswitch 2200 all can be upgraded to the latest cat5k
OS.
