Gary,
Four steps are required to configure a VLAN on the 3920:
1) Configure a TrBRF (Name it "VLAN7" if you're trying to create VLAN 7,
and set the bridge number to what you want)
2) Configure a TrCRF who's parent is VLAN7 (Name it "RING2" if you're
trying to create Ring 2, and set the ring number to 2)
Configure another TrCRF (say, "RING3", ring 3) if you need two rings on this
VLAN
3) Assign ports to VLAN7 Ring 2 and VLAN7 Ring 3 (NOTE: cursor down to the
VLAN you want, then press [SPACE] to select it, as noted by an asterisk to
the left, then press [ENTER]; if you forget to press the space bar, you'll
keep selecting the wrong vlan)
4) Enable Spanning Tree: for TrBRF, set to "IBM"; for TrCRFs, set to
"IEEE"
This is best described by cisco:

Also, here is a short tutorial:

The menu structure is not easy the first time; everyone needs an hour of
practice before taking the CCIE Lab Exam. Cisco has announced end-of-life
for 3900 and 3920 switches for next February; they are phasing out Token
Ring because of low demand; so it is probably not a good investment to buy a
3900/3920. However, you should practice with an on-line rack (low cost
scenario and rack time available from Bernard@networkking.net; another
alternative is an excellent 3920 simulator available for $95 (often on eBay
for much less) at: http://vconsole.net/
