 Kris,
In your message you referred a 4000 with "a flash on a large card", that is the
description of the 4000, not the 4000M. If you have a 4000M, it holds the same
flash as the 2500 series and you should definitely purchase 32MB for RAM and 8
Mb for flash. The 4000 holds only 16MB of RAM and can have the big card with 8M
B.
If not sure, just open the box or notice in the show version the (revision 0xA0
) refering to the 4000 and (revision 0xB0) refering to the 4000M.
I have one of each.

Phil

Kris,
You have a cisco4000, the maximum RAM you can install is 16MB. Don't waste
your money with a larger flash card, they're way to expensive, just boot
the router from a tftp server. Unlikely the 2500 series, the 4000 run IOS
from RAM, so you'll be good. I have one with 16MB RAM and I run 12.1.14
booting from the tftp server.
