My guess would be that IPX was removed from the lab content since IPX
isn't supported on the 3550... :-)
Looks like lots of interesting new IP topics for the lab. I can see it
already - "Using the NetMeeting client on your workstation...."

This is good, this way everything we are learning preparing for the lab
will have impact and relevant to our everyday work flows. Similarly to
Juniper JNCIE, everything is based on IP strictly. Very complicated, but
at least you don't have a lot of little gotcha from various different
technologies.
Just my 2 pennies.

All
NO 6500's, however expect extended "Real World" voice scenarios and
stuff like Private Vlans, MPLS, and IPsec VPN. Also IP v6
This test is going to be heavy on IP and a little on legacy SNA stuff
Just my 2 cents...

Latest from CCO...
CCIE candidates should note changes to the technical content and
equipment in the lab exam. Effective October 1st, 2002, candidates will
no longer be tested in the areas of IGRP, Token Ring, Token Ring
Switching, or IPX.
Note:
DLSW+ will remain as a protocol that can be tested in the lab. The
Catalyst
5500 switch will be replaced with the Catalyst 3550.
