I consider the definitive discussion on the topic to be with a
distinguished routing engineer no longer at Cisco. He commented that
he generally preferred using OSPF to EIGRP himself, unless ISIS was
called for.
He then pointed out the truism that "to build a really big network,
you have to have significant clue."
He then burped and had more beer.
His summary, however, was that "using EIGRP lets you defer longer the
need to get a clue. Eventually, it will catch up with you if the
network grows."
