works on both pro and home XP.

are you logged in as administrator on the box?

are you just referring to the windows compatibility testing errors like:
"The software you are installing for this hardware:
has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows
XP."?
if that is what you are referring to, then just ignore the messages and
continue the install. (CSCdu53939)

you may also want to check out the psirt advisory that just came out prior
to install to make sure you have a version that fixes most of the newly
announced vulnerabilities in the client.
