I think that you will find that there is not a management interface concept
with the 3550.
With it being a Layer 3 switch, it is capable of having multiple vlans each
with its own subnetted IP address, just like a router. And just like a
router it does not have a single address for management.
A loopback can be created and used as the interface/address when sending
Telnets, SNMPs etc using the 'source- interface' option.
