That's pretty cool! ... so the CCIE security written exam (350-018) I
passed can serve me as a re-cert exam on my CCIE Routing and Switching...
that I can have another two years to get rusty ;-)

I am pretty sure the security written counted as my recert for the R&S
exam.
I would check with Cisco to verify. Maybe they have changed the rules.

When I passed the Security Qualification they renewed my R/S for 2 more
years.
However when I passed Optical for C&S they didn't.
Conclusion: it depends.

When I passed the Security Written, I got notified
that I had re-certified my CCIE by doing so.
So unless they only do that for select individuals, I
think all CCIE written test's re-certify you
