TFTP will work over any topology, as long as it supports IP. But the
console doesn't on routers. CatOS switches can do SLIP over the console as
Paul pointed out, but I think that's the only exception.

Hi Jake,
My question.. why *can't* you TFTP a switch image over a single console
connection? Isn't that what the older Catalysts did? It was either SC0 or
SL0... console connection or SLIP connection. I can't see why you wouldn't
be able to TELNET over SLIP and TFTP a new image across the same in-band
connection.
