Hi,

I had this problem, when i configured:
under ospf process both:
 area 0 authentication message-digest AND
 area X virtual-link a.b.c.d message-digest-key 1 md5 ccie

try to put :
under interface:
 ip ospf message-digest-key 1 md5 cisco
and under ospf process:
 area 0 authentication message-digest

Please let me know If it help.

Honestly I don't have an explanation of it.

Dmitry

Subject: flapping ospf virtual link over isdn

Hi,

Anyone saw this before? I have virtual link running on
the isdn and cannot keep it quite. If virtual link is
running as demand circuit and DoNotAge is allowed, why
it died like below, which would cause isdn flapping?

Sep 21 12:31:47: %ISDN-6-CONNECT: Interface BRI0:1 is
now connected to 8358662 unknown
r5#
...
Sep 21 12:32:20: OSPF: 140.4.5.1 address 0.0.0.0 on
OSPF_VL1 is dead, state DOWN <<<--- ???
Sep 21 12:32:20: OSPF: 140.4.6.1 address 140.4.56.2 on
OSPF_VL1 is dead, state DOWN
Sep 21 12:32:20: %OSPF-5-ADJCHG: Process 100, Nbr
140.4.6.1 on OSPF_VL1 from FULL to DOWN, Neighbor

...

!
interface Dialer1
 ip address 140.4.56.1 255.255.255.0
 encapsulation ppp
 ip ospf cost 9999
 ip ospf demand-circuit
 dialer pool 1
 dialer remote-name r6
 dialer string 8358662
 dialer load-threshold 128 either
 dialer-group 1
 no peer neighbor-route
 ppp authentication chap callin
 ppp chap hostname cisco5
 ppp chap password 7 05080F1C2243

Thanks,
Chang
