Enrique,
This is the basic gist of how you can do summarization on each and every
router (if need be)
- If you need summary for EIGRP learned routes, if the major network is
different across R1 & R2, you dont need to do anything (dont disable
auto-summary for once).
- Or create a manual summary on R1' s interface facing R2
- For summary of OSPF routes on R2, you got to do some tricks. Remember for
creating summary in ospf the router needs to be either an ABR or ASBR, and
if its an ASBR the route has to be learnt from 'foreign' protocol. So you
can either create a loopback put it in differnt area and create a 'area
range' or redistribute connected (redistribute that loopback in OSPF) and do
a 'summary address'
- For summary on R3, since its an ABR you can easily use area-range
- Area0 summary is slightly flaky, but try it. Dont forget to do it on every
Area 0 ABR, otherwise you will have summaries & more specific subnets
floating around
rgds
Nick
