In addition to what has already been said, DHCP Options are used for a
number of things.

For example current technologies using DHCP options are

- to tell Cisco IP Phones where to load their firmware at boot
- Citrix Winterms where to load their firmware
- tell Microsoft OS the Proxy Server address
