Section H.2
1. R1 should advertise that it has reachability to the MAC addresses
7145.A0E3.ZZZZ,
where Z is any number.
Initially I thought the answer was
dlsw icanreach mac-address 7145.a0e3.0000 mask 0000.0000.ffff
dlsw icanreach mac-exclusive
however the answer is [as this is an address mask not a wild card mask]
dlsw icanreach mac-address 7145.a0e3.0000 mask ffff.ffff.0000
dlsw icanreach mac-exclusive
So my question is
In order to prevent general mixups of this type, does anyone have a rule of
thumb to help remember where to apply address masks to a command and where
to apply wild-card bits to a command? (instead of using the ? when
uncertain)
ie An improved version of ip address, mac-address and bgp network..... use
an address mask, everything else uses wildcard bits
