Jim,

Under "line con 0" and "line vty 0 4", configure "escape-character 27".
This maps your [ESC] key as an ESCAPE KEY. Next time you would like to
terminate a ping or traceroute, just press [ESC]. You could map any other
ASCII character if you prefer.
