Do we need to configure map so that router can ping
local FR/ATM interfaces if it's not explicitly
required to do so?

And, for ATM interface, do we always need to configure
sub-interface so that later on it's easy to add p-p
interface?

I basically think all of these are not necessary if
they are not explicitly required.
