I would think too. But this happens even after clear config, power cycle.
Then config again.

I don't get it. It almost seems like once you config an ISIS net system ID
the router has it for life.

I have erased my configs several times, reload , power cycle and still the
same.

MMoniz,

Do you have another NET configured on the router? If multiple NET's are
configured on the router, you must have the same system ID. This is not a
bug! Do a "no router clns" and a "no router isis".

Do you think this is a bug or what. After completely erasing my configs
and
power cycling my routers I start a new config.

When configuring ISIS it will not let me use any system ID other than
the
one I had configured prior. Even when configuring a different area than
was
before. My worry is if I do this in the lab and typo the system ID I
cannot
change it.

This happens on 12.1 and 12.2 code

R6(config)#ri 56.0009
R6(config-router)#net 56.0009.6666.0000.0000.66
%CLNS: System ID (6666.0000.0000.00) must not change when defining
additional area addresses
R6(config-router)#net 56.0009.6666.0000.0000.00
R6(config-router)#

Any ideas?
