1. I don't think there's anything wrong with doing this. Personally,
I've never disabled CDP on lab gear unless specifically told to in a
scenario. The peer neighbor route will depend on whether it affects
anything or not! If you're running OSPF demand circuit, I'd say yes, do
it! Otherwise, do what you want. Does it affect anything? Always ask
yourself that. That will give you the answer.
2. What is it used for? Why do you need it? When do you need it? If
you aren't going to call, do you care what's interesting? Test it out!
3. If your scenario says to change something from the default behavior,
then perhaps yes. Maybe someone was looking to alleviate the host route
from appearing in that fashion. What does your ospf do? Mine show up
as point to point, and always have as far as I remember. But some
people feel better with specifying it. What does it change?
Testing is always the best way to figure the things out! Bear in mind
that the CCIE exam is primarily results oriented unless something is
specifically asked for or told not to use. So add the necessary
configs. It's not about making a list of "always do this" sort of
things.

Subject: Some questions about ISDN
1) If I should always put "no peer neighbor" and "no
cdp enable" under the interface if the link is only a
backup, no matter what method is used, demand-circuit, dialer-watch and
backup interface, snapshot or I should only use them when demand-circuit
is configured.
2) Should I always use dialer-group? sometimes, the
reqirement is only one side will initiate the call. I
think I don't need this for the other side even if the
other side will callback. And I think it's not
required on both sides if dialer watch is configured.
If this is correct or not?
3)I see some configure with ip ospf net point-to-point
under the interface. I think it should be default if
I enable ppp encapsulation. Do I need to configure
this under some situations?
Please clarify me on these questions.
Thanks for help.
