Cisco support DES and/or 3DES depending on you IOS. If you IOS does not
include 3DES, you linux SSH will not try DES by default - some SSH on linux
does not even support DES, because DES is not included in lib_crypt.
You can try to force your SSH to you DES by using: ssh -c des routername
