Can some expalain the command, "PPP AUTHENTICATION CHAP CALLIN and "PPP
AUTHENTICATION PAP CALLIN"

If R1 wants to Authenticate R2 then I would configure

username R2 password CISCO

R1
encapsulation ppp
ppp authentication chap or pap callin,

but will I need to create a database on R2 also

username R1 password CISCO.

The way I understand that for chap I will have to create the database on both
ends regardless R1 is required to authenticat R2, not vice versa, but for PAP
I won't have to create the database on R2 since PAP doesn't rely on hash
value.

The only requirement for PAP would be to configure a sent-username and
password on R2

ppp pap sent-username R2 password CISCO

Please advise if I am on the right path.

Regards,

Ahmed
