Hey Ken,
It's good to hear from you. How ya doing?
I noticed this while doing IE lab 3, task 6.7 - 6.9.
To answer your question, yes, I did change the distance of ospf external
routes to prevent a routing loop.
If there is this condition (a route having a better distance than what bgp
is trying to install), does this mean there's big trouble in river city?
Or, is this just one of those things that's unusual but doesn't necessarily
mean there's a routing problem (expecially in light of the type of funky
things one comes across in the lab)?
Tim

Tim,
You will usually get this if you already have a route in your routing
table that has a better distance than the one BGP is trying to install.
Have you modified the distances of any of your routes or any of your
routing protocols globally?

HI guys,
when I did a show ip bgp I got this output
r>i 136.6.23.2 0 100 0 300 200 400
i
r 136.6.44.0/24 136.6.15.5 0 200 200 200
200
200
400 i
r>i 136.6.23.2 0 100 0 300 200 400
i
*>i205.90.31.0 136.6.23.2 0 100 0 300 200 254
?
As you can see, there's a "r" next to 2 of the entries. Why is that?
And,
more importantly, what should I do about it?
Also, how will that affect routing?
Thanks in advance, Tim
