I would do it, you isolated your network by bringing down the link correct? 
I have the book but I have not looked at this lab yet but I'm "assuming" :) 
that all interfaces have to be reachable correct? If that statement is 
correct they would have to be reachable 100 percent of the time. I think a 
virtual link would satisfy the requirement but again......I have not looked 
at the other lab requirements. You cant get docked for overconfiguration I 
dont think, unless it breaks something.
