Need to understand why entry in RIP database will be purged in a
multiple redistribution scenario.

Scenario:- OSPF and RIP redistribution...on netmasterclass.net article..

                             R2 (OSPF+RIP)

R1(Only OSPF) R4 (Only RIP)
----> 172.16.10.1/24

                             R3(OSPF+RIP)

R1 has OSPF connected to R2 and R3.
R4 has RIP v1 connected to R2 and R3.
R2 and R3 connected to each other.

As per the Tech doc on NMC website for Multiple Redistribution...

Originally R2 and R3 will have 172.16.10.1 in their RIP database but
will purge it from database when they get the same route from R1.(R1
gets from R2 and R3 and sends it back. OSPF has less AD so hence the
Routing table will have OSPF entry)

Why will it remove from RIP Database on R2 and R3? Is there a daemon
that will delete it or it just that RIP databases on R2 and R3 will
not accept updates from R1 because of the article
http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/105/54.html and eventually the entry
in database gets timed out which causes a purge?

Will this purge can also happen on other protocols like OSPF,EIGRP or
is it just a feature of RIP?

Thanks in advance
