"IP Directed Broadcasts" is rarely used in applications these days. If
for some reason an application is utilized that needs the router to
forward traffic to a directed broadcast address ie. 192.168.1.255 then
you would ensure that the command is turned on in the router. ((( The
host portion of the address is all 1's )))

  Hi
I am bit confused with this command.
Please help me to understand when and wehre this command needs to be
  used..

I see many examples with helper-address for both unicast and mcast
  where this command is used.

should it be used on the received interface or source interface.. ?

I went throught the documentation but a clarity fro you would
  definitely help me.
  Your help is appreciated.
  Regards
  Cert
