Subject: CCIE #14048

Hello All,

I am very happy to share this great news, yeah i got my CCIE (R&S) on this
thursday. It was about little more than 2 years of journey (with some break
in between). I am very thankful to people on this for their replies and
clarifying the doubt. It was my thrid attempt in last 14 months. Here are
some of my experiences:

1) I did my preparation for written and lab seperately. In my opinion its
always good to do some hands on while preparing for written. That makes
written interesting otherwise it may be boring to just read and read (my
opinion).
2) I had about 7-8 months of gap between 1st and 2nd attempt..that's not
helpful, it looked to me as if my 2nd attempt was 1st attempt in reality. I
made similar mistakes in both of these.
3) I do not have strong opinion about one or other lab/practice material but
i found Internetwork Expert useful. What helps here is that after doing any
lab we should try to study/research all the topics covered there rather than
just focussing what's covered in the lab. It may be time consuming but it
prepares you in real way. I would say any (if you can afford buy more and
more) ) study material is good if it covers all the topics/questions at ccie
level.
4) Any classroom training is always plus and helps a lot. I attended
advanced level of CCIE training and that clarified many doubts.
5) Lastly in my opinion, number of attempts shouldn't discourage us (except
ofcourse money ;) and time but it helps your understanding better and
better. I would say if we are making progress after every attempt then its
not disappointing at all. It may really depend on what level we started.

Thanks again,
-Anand
