I've heard that overconfiguration doesn't lose points as long as you've
fulfilled the task requirements, but since I'm not a proctor, I'm not
speaking with first hand knowledge.
But, as a rule of thumb, I wouldn't add commands that aren't to fulfill a
task. There's a risk that if you don't know exactly what a command does, it
could break something else you're unaware of and then troubleshooting that
problem could be a bitch.
Either way, when you don't know for sure what a command does and when it's
needed, there's a risk of leaving the command out when it's needed and
there's a risk of including the command when it's not needed and causing
damage elsewhere.
Unfortunately, in the lab, there isn't always a way to verify every lab
requirement.

Thanks. Would you put the discovery on the interface in the lab just in
case? I still can't figure out if they use negative marking.

No, it's not needed.
In the DQoS book by Odom, it incorrectly says it is needed, but if that
had
been true at one time, it no longer is.
