Could someone clarify..
I thought that dense mode state refresh feature was enabled and functional on
all DM router interfaces by default. Reading the Doc CD I noticed a command
"ip pim state-refresh origination-interval" which is used on the first hop
router to originate control messages. It seems that dense mode enabled
interfaces by default process and forward state refresh messages, but do not
originate them. You need the above command to kick things off. The two things
I'm unclear on are:
1.) Does this command have to be enabled on all multicast interfaces on the
first hop router or just on it's LAN interface connected to the multicast
source?
2.) It sounds like the "ip pim state-refresh origination-interval" is needed
to make the entire state refresh process start. Without that command on the
first hop router, state refresh won't work. Is this accurate?
Thanks,
DAve
