Even if you could use the frame-relay map statement, do you ever need a
map statement to yourself on a point-to-point interface? Answer: no.
You are running PPPoFR so you do not have IP running directly over Frame
Relay anymore. Layer 3 command (i.e. ACLs, routing protocol
configuration, etc) do not go under the Frame Relay interface anymore.
All layer 3 commands should go under your virtual-template interface
since you are now running IP over PPP over Frame Relay.
Lastly you will never need a frame-relay map statement when using PPPoFR
since frame-relay map statements are used when you are running IP
directly over Frame Relay and not running IP over PPP over Frame Relay.

Subject: Virtual Template- cant ping own interface
I was testing Frame Relay using CHAP authentication. I created a
virtual template and everything seemed to be working properly, but now
I cant ping my own interfaces. The both ends are configured to be
Point-to-point subinterfaces. Since i have interface dlci command on
the subinterface, I cant use a map statement to my own IP address. Any
advice would be appreciated.
