this was a toughy..........
since you can not use the mac-address command to associate a mac address w/
the virtual ip address, i first tried the approach of creating a static arp
cache entry for the ip/mac, but that did not show ip in the "show standby"
details....just the default mac address. then i used the "use-bia" command
and i changed the local mac to 0000.0c07.acde, but that only works if THAT
machine is the active standby router. i have no f'ing clue how else to
solve this problem.
as far as tracking, i was able to create a tracked object to look at route
112.0.0.0/8, and i was going to use the "ip default-network" command on R1
to point to 156.1.136.254, but it did not show that as the gateway of last
resort, which is what i expected, so i'm a bit perplexed. maybe i was
looking for the wrong results with that command but i'm sure you have to set
the default-gateway on R1 to point to the HSRP address.....
i did not get to the NATing part of this task....my racktime ran out, but
it looks like a doosy.
