It should work with any VTP mode, as long as the IOS/CatOS supports the
extended VLANs. It may require VTP version 2 or higher as well for them
to propagate, but I'm not positive. You definitely want to check CCO
though, as there are many caveats involving software versions, hardware
support, and span tree protocol types for the support of the extended
VLAN numbers.

"spanning-tree extended system-id" did the trick. So basically this can
be done with any vtp mode. Ringht?
