Yes it can work, but it's a little more complicated than that.
The easiest solution is to have only one side dial while the other side
only receives. Otherwise you need four dialer interfaces, two on each
side with different PPP authentication options to decide which call gets
bound to which dialer interface. There is an example of this in our
CCIE Routing & Switching Lab Workbook Volume I if you have a copy of it.
