OT: 802.1x / ACS / NDS (via LDAP)

Listers-

Has anyone out there deployed 802.1x using ACS to authenticate vs. an LDAP
(NDS) back-end database? For quite some time the ACS has been happily talking
to ldap for tacacs+ and radius authentication but now that we are trying to
get 802.1x working, we get a nice nasty gram from ACS telling us:

Auth type not supported by External DB

Any ideas? I've looked at so many cisco notes that say 'this can be done' and
I've found others that say it can't be done.

TIA,

Todd
