Dear friends,

Sorry if it is not very clear, if you are interested in this case and you don't understand it well I will explain in more detail.

I have a very strange behavior with a ospf network. Here is my case.

SW1 -lan-R1---lan ---R2----lan---R3--lan--Sw1

SW1(vlan33interface), R1(fa0,fa1), R2(fa0,fa1),R3(fa0) - in area 1 nssa !

SW1(loop0 - 20.0.0.1) in area 0,

SW1 and R3 are on common network but no direct ospf relation.

On SW1 I redistribute connected subnets into ospf, and have a network statement for loop0

On R3 I have a static route (20.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 ) to null0, and I have redistribute static subnet.

Results:

Sw1 - receives O routes, N2 from R3 as expected

R1 - receives N2 form SW(the connected networks) + N2 from R3(the redistributed static) +IA form SW1 - as expected

R2 - receives N2 form SW(the connected networks) + N2 from R3(the redistributed static) +IA form SW1 - as expected

R3 !!! - receives IA from SW1, but NO N2s from SW1 ???

It has them in the database but not installing in routing table. I noticed that when I shut the interface fa1(the interface to SW1) routes appear in the routing table. The forwarding address is 172.16.0.10 which is an address from the lan on which are both R3 and SW1. So R3 has a direct connection to it. When I shut the interface fa1(172.16.0.3) R3 reaches 172.16.0.10 through R2, R1 and routes are installed correctly? So it is something about reachability of the forwarding address (which reminds me of BGP)

If you have idea please share it with me.

Thanks
