Start by going after your CCVP. There's a lot of good information that you
need to learn to get that cert. There's a lot of good Cisco press materials
and authorized bootcamps (we're a provider of one) that you can use to get
up to speed quickly. I'd suggest, at a bare minimum, setup a CCM (cisco
call manager) server on vmware and start to play with it. Do the same with
unity. Maybe even get a couple of 7960s as well (although you can do quite
a bit with IP communicator). We just came out with a CCIE Voice Lab
workbook, but that might be slightly advanced for you (but it does include
complete walk throughs and explanations).
I'd also recommend getting a 2600XM router that would support CME as well
(call manger express). you could stick an nm-2v with some fxs and fxo cards
in there, and you'd have yourself a decent lab to play with. Of course you
can always rent racktime as well - but I'd really suggest setting up a basic
IP Tel lab at home to play with.
