Redistribution and the use of the network command are mutually exclusive,
there is no dependency.

The only issue to realize when using redistribution, is that if any
interfaces are already in another protocol on the box in question and you
use redistirbute connected then you may have to manuyally put those
interfaces into their requisite protocol.

As for the interface level command, that is only valid if the version of IOS
in the lab supports that command.

 If they say you can't use network then redistribution probably will not
work. The wording I tend to see is put network w.x.y.z in ospf area X
without using the network command. This would tell me A) redistribution is
probably not what they are looking for. B) I would go with interface command
IP OSPF 1 AREA X

 Now if an area is not specified then redistribution is all good.
