Mike,

I do not think policy based routing are forbidden in the lab. The only open
secret we all know about the CCIE lab is that, static routes are not allowed
(do not confuse this with static mroutes, which are allowed), except
otherwise specified within a section.

During the course of my preparations for the CCIE lab, I used both
Internetworkexpert workbook & Netmasterclass Mock labs. I believe, you might
be confusing Netmasterclass instructions for some of their labs/mock labs
for the CCIE lab.

In some Netmasterclass labs, there is instruction stating that 'only
conventional routing should be used', if you read their answer key, they
explained that, that means things like policy based routing are not allowed.

This is why, reading the instruction and understanding the
limitations/restrictions is very important.
