Hi Saad,

Are you allowed to change the MAC address on the router or does the
change need to be made on the switch? If you are allowed to change the
MAC on the router, its easy...

R3#
interface GigabitEthernet0/1
 mac-address 0001.0001.0001

R1#sh ip arp 192.168.13.3
Protocol Address Age (min) Hardware Addr Type Interface
Internet 192.168.13.3 1 0001.0001.0001 ARPA
GigabitEthernet0/1

I'm not sure you can change the dynamically learned MAC on the switch -
I'd love to know how it can be done if its possible!

Regards,

Alex

Subject: Tricky Mac ques.

Hi All,
There is a ques to modify the dynamically learned mac address. I have
a router connected to SW port fa0/17 vlan 11. The ethernet of the router
has mac address 0003.e3ef.a901, The ques is to modify the mac address to
look like 0001.0001.0001. Does anyone have a clue how this can be done
?.

  modify the output below

  SW1#sh mac address-table dynamic vla 11
          Mac Address Table
-------------------------------------------
  Vlan Mac Address Type Ports
---- ----------- -------- -----
  11 0003.e3ef.a901 DYNAMIC Fa0/17
Total Mac Addresses for this criterion: 1
SW1#

  to look like

  SW1#sh mac address-table dynamic vla 11
          Mac Address Table
-------------------------------------------
  Vlan Mac Address Type Ports
---- ----------- -------- -----
  11 0001.0001.0001 DYNAMIC Fa0/17
Total Mac Addresses for this criterion: 1
SW1#
